Well, this is go-around #3 for making a blog. It's funny--I often feel an intense desire to express myself, and am often in need of a creative outlet, but it seems to really come quite periodically. Maybe it's the fear of really letting people (however few would actually read my blog!) know what I think or feel. It's particularly empowering, I guess, to be have complete control over whom has access to ones thoughts and emotions... but probably not in a good way. To a certain extent, vunerability is a necessity to recognize the meaning of ones thoughts and actions. It's time that I open up a little bit.
We'll see how long it lasts--I was reading in the NYTimes a while ago that something on the order of 90%+ of blogs created are pretty much dead in the water. Hopefullly it won't take me another seven tries to get one to stick around!
I don't really think I have much business putting all of my friends' business out there, but since they're an integral part of my life and probably the funnier part of it, I'll make sure to include what's going on with them... but sticking with nicknames and initials for their own privacy. I love making nicknames anyway... it amuses the shit out of me. More on that later, though.
A quick note on me. I'm a graduate student in Chemistry, specifically organometallic synthesis. I went to Columbia in NYC for my undergrad, and now I'm at Caltech, probably one of the quirkiest places I've encountered. I'm sure this place will make for some good stories as time rolls on.
